 Idol Finale
Back to Full Blog

Yet another Thursday night has come and passed. Well, not quite passed. But you get the gist. It’s soon to pass for me because I’m gonna go to bed soon. Yay me! Either way, as I said, I was at my grandparents’ house this week for Monday evening, Tuesday, and Wednesday morning. Tuesday night, I got to see the 1st part of the “American Idol” season finale! I’m sad to see it end but also relieved on another hand. But on the show, the final two, David Archuleta and David Cook (it was D & D night) battled it out for three rounds of songs. They made boxing analogies all night long. It was rather odd. But in the first round, David Cook performed the song “Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,” one of my personal favorites by U2. David smashed it, but only got about 85-90% approval from the judges. Next up was David Archuleta. He sang another one of my personal favorite by Sir Elton John, “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me”. I thought he did it alright. But no one can do it better than Elton! And Archie tried to change it up too much, in my opinion. But he got reviews of “Molten lava hot,” “Beautiful,” and “Round 1 goes to Archuleta” from the judges. I swear that they were on their knees for this little 17-year-old runt! He’s my age, but he makes me look like Rambo! Plus, the fact that this little weasel can get all the chicks that would never pay me a second glance rather gets me hot considering he’s proven he’s almost as dumb as Jason Castro quite a few times! He’s a doofus, a dingus, and a moron! But whatever. I know the kid can sing, so let him. But he didn’t deserve to win. Thank God he didn’t! Any who, round two, David Cook did “Dream Big” by Ryan Shupe. He did it great, but again, got mixed reviews. Archuleta did some random song I never heard before (obviously a ballad) and blew the judges away! GET OFF YOUR KNEES, GUYS! UGH! But moving past that, the third round, David Cook chose to do one of my mom and sister’s favorites and one of the only songs I know by Collective Soul, “The World I Know”. Randy and Paula loved it but Simon thought it was bogus. He’s so full of it! Then Archuleta gets up there and does the best song he did all season, “Imagine” by John Lennon, for the second week! He did it for ‘70s week, I believe, and he chose to do it again so he could get an easy vote. Obviously, all three judges went ape s**t over it! Whoopty frickin’ do! He can impersonate himself from an earlier week! I wanna see some new stuff! Either way, Simon said it was a “knock-out” by Archuleta, “to use a boxing analogy”. Bull honky! You honestly can sit there with a straight face and say that David Archuleta deserved that more than Cook when, the night before, you were on “The Tonight Show” talking about how you wanted David Cook to win? Make up your mind, you tea-drinking idiot! But then the results show was the next night. YAY! I was excited! I couldn’t wait! The show was pretty good. They had the final 12 on there again doing some numbers, they had Nash from Crosby, Stills, & Nash, they had SEAL, they had ZZ Top, they had George Michael, they had Donna Summers, they had the Jonas Brothers (ick!), former winners Jordan Sparks and Carrie Underwood, and I know they had one or two others. Not only the big-time music celebs, but they also had Jimmy Kimmel and Mike Myers there, and the best failure of the opening season auditions! I don’t remember his name, but he was Asian and he wrote his own song to audition to, “Brother”. He sang it to Simon. The guy pretty much worships the poo Simon Cowell lays! It’s disturbing, unless you’re into the whole homosexual thing. Which I’m not. Not that there’s…anything wrong with that. *cough* Back to business. It was a great show! But at the end…I waited with hands folded in prayer and literally on the edge of my seat for the results. Then Ryan Seacrest said “The winner…and the new 2008 American Idol winner is…David…COOK!” I jumped up, hooped, hollered, and clapped! Then I gave my mom a high-five and went to bed with a smile upon my face because I got to rub it into my Archuleta-loving girlfriend. HA! BOOYA! I shouldn’t take so much pleasure in other people’s short-comings…but I do! Oh well. Better luck next time, Archie. Good try, man! Hopefully he gets his own contract. Well that’s it for this Blog. See y’all next time! HOLLA!
