From the Teenage Mind

 All the Small Things
Back to Full Blog

It’s just another day in the life of me. I’m currently sitting at my grandmother’s computer listening to the Eagles (“Bells Will Be Ringing”) and doing my physical science assignment. 8 pages due by tomorrow! And it’s 10:20 at night! Yay me! Oh well. They’re not too difficult. Thank you, Wikipedia! ;) Anyway, things have been good and bad all at the same time here.

My grandmother has FrostWire (from the makers of LimeWire). Good, right? And she has an awesome computer with a ton of memory, so songs download like lightning! And good versions of them, too! But she has a crappy version of Windows Media Player (I hate their latest updates), so I have to use this CD/DVD Burner/Recorder. Ok, simple enough. Not too hard to use. But she’s out of blank CDs and my dad didn’t let me take any with me because he said “Your grandmother will have some! She always does!” Sure, she has a bunch of blank DVDs, but no blank CDs! So we have to run out to Wally World to buy a 5-pack for $6. Not bad. Then I burn the two Beatles CDs without a hitch (I’ve had a big music craving for the Beatles lately for some reason). I play them in my computer, and they work. My dad says “Let me borrow your one when I go take your cousin home.” My cousin was over at my grandmother’s house for a while, and my dad had to take him home. Either way, he took the CD with him, came back, and said “Your CD won’t work in my car. I don’t know why. It just won’t.” His other burnt CDs will work in his car! This program must suck! So there’s that.

Then today was my one month anniversary with my girlfriend, Britney. Last night, she texted me and said she was crying from missing me so much, and I’d only been gone a day! But we had just got into a big fight the day before and then made up later that afternoon. So there’s that, but whatever. Today, she goes over to a friend’s house and calls me to tell me that she’s missing me terribly and can’t wait to see me Thursday (the day I’ll be officially home and able to do anything). I talked to her for a few minutes about two or three times today. I don’t want to drain my minutes because I have went over WAAAAY too many times on my phone bill for WAAAAY too long! God, I hate Verizon! Ugh! Either way, I was feeling rather down about not being around my girlfriend today for our one month. I know some may find that stupid and gushy, but it’s a milestone for me. Yeah, I’ve been in longer relationships than that, but not one where I was close enough to my girl to where I could see her every day if I wanted. So this is a new thing for me.

Then I get on my school e-mail today to check up and see what’s on there. I knew I had a review of one of my essays in there, so I had to check that. But I see “Rock Hall Information”. Just so all of you know (because I neglected to mention this earlier), I’m up visiting the family and staying with my grandparents because I’m going to the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio tomorrow for a “school field trip”. I put it in parenthesis because I’m home schooled. You provide transportation for yourself, you pay part of the price for the ticket, you HAVE to be accompanied by a parent/guardian, yadda yadda. You just go with others from your grade. So it’s rather odd. Either way, back to the e-mail. I click on the e-mail expecting to see something like “Be on your best behavior, no touching things, no playing around, no spitting, no farting, no burping, no urinating on rock legends’ busts,” etc. But not only do I find nothing quite as entertaining, they say NO CAMERAS ARE ALLOWED IN THE HALL OF FAME! WHAT THE HELL!? We’re paying a bunch of money to look at these dead and/or old rockers and their set-ups and we don’t even get to take pictures!? What kind of rip-off is that!? Well, that’s America for ya. But my dad’s taking his camera PHONE with him, as am I. So it’s all good. It just doesn’t take as good a quality of picture as our Kodiak camera with 50 million settings and super zoom and many other features that some of our military’s aircraft have on them! But I guess we’ll have to make due with what we can get. What other choice to we have? Smuggle in a camera and risk getting kicked out of the most prestigious rock ‘n’ roll center in the world? NEVER!

Here’s something I was wondering about the RNR HOF, though. I heard that back in 2002 or 2003 (somewhere around there), Papa Roach was inducted into the HOF. Yet KISS has never been inducted. Don’t get me wrong! I love Papa Roach! But they’re not legendary, as KISS is! I think this is complete BS if we have Papa Roach in the RNR HOF before we have KISS! Even if you’re not a KISS fan, you HAVE to agree that they were very influential to rock and were very innovative and were/are very popular! I don’t understand the world anymore. Another disgrace happened to a member of the Hall (more of a disgrace than Papa Roach being inducted before KISS, which really isn’t a disgrace, just a minor injustice). If Elvis’s daughter not only marrying Michael Jackson but also having a child with him wasn’t enough to have the King of Rock rolling in his grave like an autistic child who didn’t get to see Wapner on time, then Mariah Carey beating his “Most #1 Hit Songs by a Solo Artist” record had to have him shakin’ like his name was Emily Rose and he was possessed by the devil! Yes, there are a few Mariah Carey songs I like. I’ll admit it. But let’s face it: She’s no Elvis. She’ll never be as influential, as popular, or as loved. All I can say is “Poor Elvis. Poor, poor Elvis. I’m sorry, King.” *shrugs shoulders*

Finally, if all this isn’t enough, I made a deal with my buddy, Tad, about a month and a half ago or so. He makes these iron-on T-shirts, and I didn’t feel like blowing $50 on a DC (Rob Dyrdek’s brand) T-shirt and a Double B (Big Black’s brand) T-shirt. So I asked Tad to make me one custom DC T and one custom Double B T. He did it on one condition: I ship him a box of Faygo that he couldn’t get out there. I went into Meijer and bought 8 different 2-liters of Faygo soda. There was Ohana Punch, Bicentennial Soda, Blue Raspberry, St. Nick Soda, Peach, Faygo Twist, Faygo 60/40, and some other odd flavor that isn’t very common. He lives in Boise, Idaho where he can only find rootbeer, Red Pop, orange, and cream soda around him. So since he likes Faygo, he gets me to ship him a box of 2-liters. First, we got pushed back on the shipping date because we were incredibly busy with various things. Then, I was fixing to ship it from UPS and they tell me it would be $40 just for the one box. So my mom takes it to the Post Office the next day and it costs around $25 to ship it. She does this WITHOUT ME, which is not good. Tad agrees that since it was so much, he’d send us a $15 check. We never cashed it, thank God. But either way, the Post Office tells my mom it will take 7-10 days to arrive in Boise. Today is day 11. Every day it doesn’t come, I get a text from Tad complaining to me. First, he just complained about the crappy service of the Post Office. Then he turns the blame to ME! “You should have gotten a tracking number! Then we wouldn’t be in this mess!” “I followed through with my end of the deal! Where’s my soda!?” So here I am feeling like an ass. But I told him today, three different times, that I wasn’t the one who shipped it, so I didn’t have the option of getting a tracking number. It was all my mother’s doing! So if he wants to complain, then complain to her! Then I said that it was too much of a hassle to mess with shipping soda and I said it was just plain stupid to begin with, and we’d just send him money. Then he gets even madder. “What the hell!? I want my soda! We had a deal!” I told him “As far as ‘we had a deal’ goes, I followed through with my end! I bought the stupid pop, I put the pop in the mail, I shipped the pop! I did my part! Not my fault that the Post Office sucks!” So then he calls me an inconsiderate prick, yadda yadda, and blames the whole ordeal on me. It also doesn’t help that, for some reason or another, he’s been depressed and complaining about EVERYTHING for the past week or so! I swear, that dude has more emotional issues than a loony bin! No offense to him. He’s a great guy. He’s just very emotionally unstable. And quite frankly, I don’t mind helping him with his problems, but this is ridiculous! This is concerning me and getting to me, and I don’t need it! Selfish as it may sound, I have my own problems to worry about! I would suggest Valium or Prozac or something of that sort to him, but he has no medical insurance. So that wouldn’t do him any good. And Prozac by itself is $200 without a co-pay. And there’s no way he could afford that.

Either way, I’ve got a lot on my plate. What with my girlfriend, my friend, the RNR HOF, my music, etc. Hopefully everything calms down for me real soon and I can relax with my boo, Britney. I’m trying to look at the bright side of life and keep a positive outlook. That’s why I wrote this, to get it all out so I don’t have to blow up on anyone or go into a fit of depression. It’s nothing too terrible. Just stupid little things that bug me or get me down is all. Thanks for reading. Pimp out!
